Living Alpenfrieden in Valle Aurina: the focus is on the people

2 houses, 1 village, 1,000 peaks
Welcome to Alpenfrieden

Warm, cosy, sociable. Those are the first three words that come to mind for a holiday with us. An old-school house where the focus is on the people. A host family that lives for hospitality with genuine enthusiasm and joyfully welcomes their guests. And a village perfect for mountain sports enthusiasts, steeped in history and radiating friendliness. Do losst’s sich ausholtn! *

* A pretty nice place to be!

Hosts with heart and soul:
Welcome to the Huf family

Back in 1980, when Gerhard and Marlene Huf (Grandpa Gerd and Grandma Lene) built a guesthouse with 16 rooms, they put their heart and soul into the project and have been caring for their guests ever since. We’ve inherited their work ethic and approach to treating our staff as equals. We know what they mean to us and we make sure they know it too. And you, our guests, feel it too. The relaxed, sometimes lively atmosphere is the best proof of that.

The good mood manager

Andreas can usually be found somewhere in the house, where he is responsible for giving the best tour tips and making jovial comments. He does pretty much everything except make beds. He’s a caretaker, entertainer, and especially in the evenings when behind the bar or Pudl*, a psychologist and quality controller for drinks. A tough job, but someone’s got to do it …

The good soul for kitchen and team

Katrin takes great pleasure in making sure that the Alpenfrieden tastes and looks just how you want it to. Besides decorating and keeping the house and surroundings clean, Katrin is mainly responsible for the culinary well-being of our guests: Her Pappilan** often bring spontaneous bursts of joy to our guests.

Daughter Hanna and son Manuel - Berghotel Alpenfrieden

In the starting blocks

Manuel, the son of the house, is still attending hotel management school. When he has time, he helps out wherever needed. With his polite, committed, and sociable nature, he has fully absorbed the spirit of Alpenfrieden. He loves cooking and firing up the barbecue and can often be found in the forest, searching for the best mushrooms. In the evening, he sometimes joins his Vouto*** behind the Pudl*..

Whirlwind and animal lover

When it comes to petting the neighbour’s rabbits or naming the cows of the farmers in the village, Hanna is the house’s expert. She loves bounding and cycling through the house and garden and enthusiastically pursues her main task: being a child.

2 houses, one thought

Alpenfrieden is a double dose of holiday happiness at the heart of the South Tyrolean mountains! With us, your holiday happiness has not just one headquarters but two! The main building and the annexe just 90 metres away are conveniently separated only by the picturesque church square.
Wondering what the difference is? Well, in the main building we welcome you for check-in before you can treat yourself to a refreshing drink in our cosy public bar. Breakfast? You can enjoy that in the house where you’re staying. It’s definitely delicious, nutritious, and healthy. Dinner is then served in style in the  dining room of the main building.
The main house also has a small wellness paradise with sauna, steam room, whirlpool tub and Kneipp water therapy pool. The annex features the kids’ pools (not intended for adult swimmers) and a large sunbathing area with play facilities for endless fun for the little ones, while the outdoor whirlpool, sauna, and infrared cabin allow parents to relax and enjoy some down time.

Whether it is an active holiday for two, a family holiday in the Alps, the main house or annex: at the Alpenfrieden, you will always enjoy the best of times.

A meeting point

It is not only our guests but also locals of Valli di Tures of all ages who like to come together in our bar. Everyone comes together for a game of Watter*, a Glasl Wein**, a coffee, or a freshly tapped beer. And when one of the village boys gets the Ziacha*** out on the weekend, things get lively with lots of dancing and singing. It is then that Andreas really gets going behind the bar.

Valli di Tures, a jewel with rich tradition

Are you looking for authenticity and a sense of homeliness? Then you will fall in love with Valli di Tures right away: school, kindergarten, shop, a church and church square and a diverse bunch of nice people who like to stop off at the village inn after mass. Tradition and solidarity play a big role here: festivals, processions, concerts by the brass band, and a lively association and club life with fun events provide plenty of variety. The annual highlight for the whole village is, of course, the legendary Weißnbocha Kischta *.

Naturally sustainable

Sustainability for us is not just a marketing gimmick or a trendy word. Ever since people lived in the mountains, nature has demanded a sustainable way of life from them. Our ancestors knew it, and we have taken it to heart. Living and working in a way that is good for future generations is usually the most sensible approach. Our electricity comes from the village’s own hydroelectric power plant. We heat with pellets and wood chips because wood is the most obvious energy source for us. Our houses are climate-certified, and during construction, we used locally sourced building materials. In the kitchen, we also use regional and preferably fair-trade products, often from producers in the village and valley. The two charging stations for electric cars in our underground garages also contribute to sustainable mobility.
